Origin of Life: Chiral Short RNA Chains Capable of Non‐Enzymatic Peptide Bond Formation

چکیده
A semi-symmetric vestige of an RNA apparatus with stereochemically controlled ribozyme capabilities is embedded and functions as the site peptide bond formation within all contemporary ribosomes, a finding that in line Lahav Leiserowitz earlier discoveries on chemical reactions. As structure this semi-symmetrical self-folded entity almost fully conserved known it seems to be resilient evolution, thus hinting at its pre-biotic origin hence, suggested by us, protoribosome. Recent studies, described shortly below, demonstrated laboratory-designed protoribosomes, which supports notion bonding still functioning ribosomes.

Quantum mechanic glimpse into peptide bond formation within the ribosome shed light on origin of life
This article describes a rare, however extremely pleasing, scientific study originated by Prof. Louis Massa during a friendly discussion, which yielded an insightful understanding of one of the two major ribosome functions, namely peptide bond formation. It demonstrates how elaborate, creative approach to the investigation of the location of the actual reaction of the formation of peptide bonds...

The thermodynamic preference for the trans isomer of prolyl peptide bonds arises almost entirely from enthalpy in aqueous buffer and in toluene.
متن کاملAntibody catalysis of peptide bond formation.
An antibody generated against a neutral phosphonate diester transition-state (TS not equal to) analog catalyzes the formation of an amide bond between a phenylalanyl amino group and an acyl azide derived from L-alanine. The antibody is selective for L- vs. D-alanine and does not catalyze the hydrolysis of the acyl azide to an appreciable degree. A rate acceleration of 10,000-fold relative to th...
متن کاملMechanism of ribosomal peptide bond formation.
The mechanism of peptide bond synthesis constitutes a fundamental and long-debated question in molecular biology. For many years, ribosomologists championed a protein-based mechanism, similar to the charge relay system that has been proposed for peptide hydrolysis by serine proteinases [references in (1)]. As it has become apparent that the peptidyl transferase center is composed mainly of RNA,...
